Well happy to say that the winter season has started with all of the 50cm of snow that was promised arriving and turning the view from the Nordic shelter into a sea of white. With some strong gusty winds overnight then the snow fences are starting to do their work. Chapeau to Jenny who was our first skiing visitor of the season out breaking trail. The going was challenging with some deep pockets of snow but we have a good cover across all of the trails I managed to get around or see today and was great to be out in the snow.
We have started to pack the tracks this afternoon. No grooming is planned as yet. Track packing with the machines will continue in daylight tomorrow and the tracks will be rough to ski on and unsafe on the downhills. Grooming will commence when conditions allow and trackpacking is complete but this may be a few days away yet. So if you do want to come up and enjoy the early conditions then please ski aware and touring skis may be your weapon of choice.
The shelter is open and Arnold & I are around for those who want to come for a ski or just drop their kit off into the lockers.
Looking forward to a great season ahead.
Andy at the Nordic Shelter
